Vegas suddenly disappears at 87% of render!

Of course this is a project that I'm trying to get done before I leave on vacation tomorrow.

Anyway, Vegas just did this charming thing that it does every so often where it gets most of the way through a couple of hour render, then just disappears leaving a partially rendered file. No error message, no nothing. Just one minute it's there, the next it's not.

If SCS wonders why people jump ship, this sort of thing is it. It's not the features, it's the reliablity.

I'm staying away from HD until this gets resolved.

Approx how long does the project have to be for Sony to Bite it. I do have about 20 minutes of HDV footage I could play with. Will it crash?

The other thing is that I see 15 people complaining but arent there thousands of users???

So perhaps it's a small group of people having the problem?

I'll capture my HDV footage and see if I can render flat m2t files with no effects. If you guys say 20 minutes should be fine than I won't bother doing it.

I think it really depends on the project. I have lots of clips (4 camera shoot, mutiple takes) and lots of PSD files in my average 20-28 minute projects. They all crash if I try to render large segments.

Most people don't bother complaining. The cost of Vegas, PPro, FCP or Edius is small change compared to other costs, realitvely about the same as an inkjet printer. If Epson printers are on the nose do most business people waste their time bitching about them in forums or do they just go buy a Canon or HP.
