H265 offers better compression than h264, at a big cost in encoding time.
That's at the same perceptual quality, BTW.
When uhdtv quality and resolution is widely available to consumers, hevc/vp9 formats will become more accessible to hobbyists, as the need for highly compressed delivery streams increases.
