Vegas to Apple Compressor Quicktime Colour Shifts

I'm rendering 1920x1200 photo-JPEG Quicktime files in Sony Vegas and sending them to people using Apple Compressor to convert them to 640x360 AVC for the web.

Compressor is converting from computer levels to studio levels (0,255 to 16,235) even though my files are already graded to studio levels. It is also converting 709 colorspace to 601 colorspace. End result is muddy blacks and whites, and a shift in colour.

1. Anyone here familiar with Compressor? I don't know what filters and settings are available within it, but is there a way to negate these changes during the encoding process?

2. Would sending in Avid DNxHD solve this?

3. Is there any simple way in Vegas to pre-empt a 709-to-601 colour shift by doing the opposite in advance? I know I can do this in AviSynth, or I could develop a Vegas filter preset to do it by lengthy trial and error, but perhaps it's in there somewhere already.
