I started many moons ago on Avid Cinema for Mac (remember that one?) and later stepped up to Pinnacle Movie for a few years but decided to try something new. So glad I did. I downloaded the free trial of Vegas 7.0 and was so impressed, I made the purchase 3 days later. Have been using it regularly for almost a year.
Recently completed my first HDV test project, niece's graduation, shot on Canon HV20. Came out beautifully. Except for the long rendering times, this is a great program. (Much of that is probably my computer...)
I am still eager to learn more and purchased the Vegas 7.0 training guide without realizing it is intended for the "pro" version of Vegas. That's not made clear in the website description. Full Vegas is currently 7.0e and Vegas Movie is 7.0a, so you can see the confusion.
Anyway, I found the book very useful none the less and most of the programming features carry over to VMS 7. The only frustration is that VMS won't open the tutorial files because they are written for Vegas full version (.veg).
Obviously, it's not practical for VMS to open VEG files because then it would be the full version and we'd all be paying a lot more money. I just wondered if anyone knew of a work around to convert the tutorials or if there is another version of them (.vf) available so that the lessons could be performed on Movie Studio.
I've worked my way through most of the book without them since I've been using the program for a while now. And I've picked up a lot of tricks and tips that I did not know before. So there is still some value in the training.
I appreciate anybody who can speak more about this.
I've already downloaded the free trial of VMS 8.0 to see what the new features are and will probably be buying this very soon.
Thanks,
UncaBee
