Vegas transport extremely sluggish

Lately I've had a horrendous problem with Vegas and that is that sometimes the transport becomes really sluggish. When I hit play, it may start playback immediately, it may take as long as 40 seconds, or it might be some amount of time in between. It doesn't always happen, but it is incredibly frustrating. Any ideas as I reboot yet again?

Is this with Pro 9?
I just recently did my first project with it and noticed similar behaviour.
What worked for me was dropping my RAM preview down to 128 MB.
What bugs me is that I could leave this set to 1024 MB on Pro 8 and edit all day and night without any problems.
Pro 9 would start acting up within 10 minutes :-(

I have 8GB of memory. I should be able to use a huge RAM preview. It sure is handy.

Maybe this has something with your Power Options to do? Check if Hard Disks are set to be turned off after for example 20 Minuts.
