Vegas Trimmer performance

ion-marin wrote on 11/19/2017, 2:02 PM

The trimmer performance is very slow compared to timeline video preview. Also, you cannot use proxies in trimmer. Some of us have a trimmer based workflow and it is annoying struggling with 4k footage in the trimmer window. Scrubbing 4k in trimmer is a real pain.

My question is: Will Magix ever address this issue?

I cannot answer your question, but I do have a workaround: cineform intermediates (or some other easy to edit intra format like xavc). They fly with trimmer hover-scrub even in 4k.

I would love to use the trimmer in my workflow, but unfortunately the explorer and project media thumbnails are so painfully slow (and clips cannot be manually sort-ordered) I am forced to drag & drop from adobe bridge.

...and has anyone had a problem with 'zooming' in the trimmer? Previous version, before 15, always worked for me.

Zooming works if you disable the trimmer video monitor. But this is same as in VP14 and VP13.

Thanks a lot Marco. Is disabling the video monitor found in the Options menu or in the trimmer window. I'm not seeing it

thanks in advance

It's available via right-clicking onto the trimmer monitor.

The trimmer performance is very slow compared to timeline video preview.

And while you're right clicking, does "enable hover scrub" solve the slow scrub?

Is there really no solution for the trimmer window? Does a faster pc solve the problem? I hoped that in V16 it would be better, but still 4K cannot be used in trimmer window. I wonder why it works on the timeline though.
