Vegas update - small complaint

Greetings,

I'm excited at the prospect of the 1.0a - especially the
addition of the noise reduction track effect. I appreciate
that SF got it out in a reasonable amount of time and
weren't criptic about when it would be released - unlike
some companies.

That said, I do have a complaint. I am one of the people
who got an already expired serial number when I purchased
Vegas. I used the repair patch to fix the problem.
Everything was fine.

Maybe I missed this in the upgrade 1.0a web page - but
after ther upgrade I chose both "read the readme"
and "start Vegas now". The readme was garbage text (was I
the only who got this?) and when I started Vegas it asked
for my serial number again. I gave it my serial number and
it told me I was expired. Ugh. So, I'm going to run the fix
utility again and try again. I would've hoped that 1.0a
would've fixed the expiration problem for good or at least
patched it again for me. I know this is a small thing, but
perhaps 1.0b could put this to bed for good.

I'd go to the download site to re-read the directions -
maybe I missed a warning about this, so egg on me, but like
so many others I don't carry my serial number around and
have my computer at a place without an Internet connection.

regards,

Paul

Just wanted to add my input. I installed 1.0a on top of 1.0. I also
had to re-enter my activation code, but it worked for me.

I discovered the root of my problem - Vegas 1.0 was NOT running on
the serial number from my manual in the first place - it was running
on a different serial number that was in its own .txt file in the
root of the Vegas directory. Silly me for not noticing sooner. This
must've been part of the patch for people with the expired number.
Its obviously the number I need to use with any future updates as
well.

My question to SF - is this new number now my "official" number when
I need it to log into the site for future upgrades or did all of us
with a dead serial # get the same number?

regards.
