We're going all out to get the major Vegas Video update out
this week. We finally resolved a major technical issue with
Microsoft on 3/7, so once our install testing is complete,
we'll post the update. The app itself is frozen. This is a
major update, with features and fixes that should make
everyone happy.
This next Vegas release will REQUIRE DX8 and the DV Updater
for DX8 for 98SE, ME, and Win2K, so if anyone on this forum
wants to get a head start, you can get those components
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.
asp
component names:
1)DirectX 8.0a runtime
2) Digital Video Update for DirectX 8.0
These components will need to be installed before you can
install the next update of Vegas Audio or Video. There are
enough significant advances to DirectX that migration to
DX8 is mandatory. Add to this the fact that plug-in
developers around the world are now building with the DX8
sdk- without Dx8 runtime, those 3rd party plug-ins will not
run.
The new Vegas installer will prompt you to install DirectX
8, so you can do it now, or upon release.
