Vegas uses all RAM resources

lukizap wrote on 8/2/2024, 4:02 AM

Something is wrong with the new version, I can't render a 90min movie. Vegas eats up all my RAM and crashes. It's a strange phenomenon because it shows that veas uses over 30GB, and my overall memory status is almost 100% after 1hh of rendering. I have to give the material to the client and I can't render it, what should I do??

I will add that half of the project was created on VP21, and the rest on 22. The problem is clearly with the software because shorter films render well. I am trying to render this long film in 3-4 parts and then I will finally render these parts together again because I have a deadline and I have to submit the film yesterday.

I'm not a new Vegas user, I've been using it for about 13 years now.

Ok, we need much more information.

1. What kind of footage do you use? A mediainfo printout would be helfpul

2. Technical spezifications for your PC

3. Please post snapshoots of your project settings

4. Please post snapshoots of preferences/video and preferences file i/o

5. Please tell us which render templates you use

Please add the requested informations.

Your project settings are of special interest - 8bit or 32bit?

Maybe 8bit project settings help.

We are investigating. We have reproduced the problem...specifically in 32bit full range projects with a view transform applied. We suspect other general transform plugins that use OpenColorIO (color grading, autolooks) probably show this problem as well.

lukizap wrote on 8/2/2024, 10:56 AM

I have the same problem both in the 32-bit project and in the 8-bit project. I used color grading, of course, in the project. I understand that the problem will be fixed, the only question is when. I made a mistake because I replaced the same project created in VP21 with a project from VP22 and now I cannot render from either of these two versions.

Wolfgang S. wrote on 8/2/2024, 11:41 AM

You can try to open both VP21 and 22, mark all, and copy the timeline from VP22 to a timeline in VP21.

if the program for which I paid a lot of money is currently useless, will there be any compensation for this? the next days pass and I have to stand on my head to render my movie. I have been struggling for 3 days to transfer the project from v22 to v21 and render it. Something went wrong and it is obvious that I am making idiots out of people who paid for version 22. What is this about??

Take care. This is a user forum, and to blow off steam contradicts the community rules. Users cannot give you any compensation. Contact customer support for that.

Stay fact oriented, @gorGaram!

The issue could be related to nvida or intel cards only, I see it on my nvidia based systems too. There is nothing wrong with any user.

Yeah, my 1 hour long project eats all my physical and virtual memory,
then V22 just quit without any message. I'm also on deadline today :(

fr0sty wrote on 8/6/2024, 3:14 AM

To get past your deadline, render it in parts, then join the parts together afterwards.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

The rendered parts could be quickly joined/merged lossless/without reencoding with a freetool like Shutterencoder.
