Vegas versus Final Cut Pro.... Who Cares?

Vegas is certainly a nice piece of software. But most of you folks spend WAY too much time blabbering about how great Vegas is, that you've turned into a self-parody.

You're like a modern-day Dungeon and Dragons group that would meet after school and make fun of the jocks or popular students. Seriously, step away from the keyboard and get some fresh air.

I totally agree with a statement from GmElliot, MOST computer "instability" that I have been aware of IS user error, which includes purchasing an incompatible part or "great deal this week only". A little PM and common sense goes a long way in system stability.

And, one component I havn't seen in here, if you want to talk system stability, is Linux. It's coming on fast and strong, but is still failry limited software wise. I have been running a Linux machine in my office primarily for testing and housing web sites, and for running some cgi programs. It has, in THREE YEARS now, NEVER crashed, and has only been rebooted 3 times, once because the power supply went out, and the other times to upgrage the release version. It drives the NT freaks around here nuts! Along with the Linux box, I also have a PC and a Mac in here. They seem pretty even in burps.

As for PC vs Mac, personally I like computers, whatever name might be attached.

Hey, I am running a ASUS P4P800 with a 3 gigs pentium and two gigs of ram. I had the system custom built specifically for Vegas. I spent $3200.00. Now before that I was editing video on a Compaq Presatio with only a 670 meg prosessor. I cut my EPK on that. Here is what I learned. Because of ther systems limited capibilities, I had to keep my system super clean. A little bit a defraggingg went a long way. Virus scans, clean start up and all. I would agree, mst people think hey can have a "messy" system and their operating system will keep it all together. WRONG...Anyone have a car that doesnt need maintnance?

Bottom line, we as the user habe to keep our systems running smooth. We are in an age where the "GAP" between systems is getting smaller. It's all really about preference. I am a P.C. man. Will be until my taste change.

FCP, Vegas, Premier....It's all good... I'm working..that's all that really matters.
So go Edit something already..puff..puff..cough...fade to black
