Vegas Video

Is there a forum for Vegas Video yet where I can find out
what I need to run this program smoothly? For example I
want to know what kind of computer processor, speed, memory
and video card that I need to produce professional
broadcast quality video. I saw the recommendations on the
product web site but that doesn't tell me what makes the
program run great. Thanks for your help!!!

I'll tell U what my experiences were...

I had a system with:
AMD K6-2 400MHz
128MB RAM (PC-100)
SB AWE 64
27GIG 7200RPM HDD

I was using Vegas Audio 2.0a to basically mix song WAVs
(into a complete CD). It was a nightmare. The songs wouldn't play
smoothly and eventhough I had the minimum requirements the computer
acted like it couldn't handle it. What's even stranger is the fact
that I created this mix on Vegas Pro 1.0 and it played FINE. Not once
did it ever skip, or act like my computer wasn't fast enough. When I
upgraded to 2.0a, my nightmares began.

So after trying many different things (new sound card, more memory,
changing settings) with no luck, I decided 2 upgrade my system.

Now I have:
AMD Athlon (Thunderbird) 800MHz
256MB RAM (PC-133)
SB AWE 64 (same as before)
27GIG 7200RPM HDD (same as before)

Everything is running FINE....and my mixes R playing back smoothly
with no problems.

I recommend U get a CPU that's AT LEAST 600MHz. They recommend 400,
but that didn't seem 2 work 4 me. And make sure 2 get PLENTY of
memory. Unfortunately I don't use Vegas to produce video, so I can't
give U advice on the video end.

Hope that helps ya.

Hi

I use a dual Celeron 533 on a Abit BP6, 256 MB Ram, 9,6 Cheetah for
system and 18,3 Cheetah for recording, SCSI Adaptec 29160, RME Digi
96/8 PAD and a RME Hamerfall sound card, OS Windows 2000 Pro.
This combination works great for me.

Bye
