Vegas Video 3.0 - Textbook

Where can I get a copy of the book "DV and Audio Production" in UK or Europe, without having to pay shipping charges of around $50 if it is sent from Sonic Foundry in USA???
I have been told it is the only publication available (apart from the manual) which describes in detail most of the main features of Vegas 3.0. Sensible suggestions gratefully acknowledged!

Well the sensible thing to do is if you haven't already download and STUDY the manual. I'm referring to the 360 page PDF version which is free on the SoFo site...

The printed manual (book) as I understand is the PDF in fancier form. AFAIK, there are no books out that go beyond the manual, or did SPOT write one, geez I forget?

This forum is a fairly good source of suggestions and ideas. Several people have put up web pages, tutorials, etc..

Me too, and the others are linked from my site.

Doug Spotted Eagle will be releasing his book shortly after Beta 4.0 is released----it should be the Bible of Vegas and I am sure it will be availble through Amazon etc world wide.

Ah... my memory isn't totally gone yet then. I thought I read something about his book, wasn't sure. Look forward to it too.

Thank you both for your comments. I look forward to reading the "Ten Commandments for Vegas" - let's hope we can all understand it!

The problem with the ten commandments is not understanding them - it's abiding by them :-)

LOL---Douglas is an excellent teacher and based on reading his posts and tutorials, an excellent writer. I think that it will be the type of book that appeals to all levels of users----Maybe he will chime in here if he gets the chance.

Hiyah BB! - "I'm referring to the 360 page PDF version which is free on the SoFo site..."

I've got the manual that came with my install disks for VV - that's not 360 pp. You must mean another manual for VV - yes? Welllll . . I can't get to a free option. There is a supplier that will send copies of a VV manual for $27 (?).

BB if you know somehting I don't please give me a hint,

Cheers

Grazie

Try this link for the 360 page manual:

As BB says, it's worth the download and subsequent print...

cheers

Downloading and printing the 360 page manual takes a lot of time and patience. The manual is included on the installation disc, which I took along to Kinkos and they had had it all printed and neatly spiral bound within the hour. It cost around $30 and was well worth it.

Thanks RonR - I like the idea of getting it printing off at an agency. Yup - I can do this.

Yep, I recommend the 'have it printed' route. I being a pinch penny printed it out myself on both sides on my color printer, and I already had one of the sprial binder machines. So you can do it that way, but its was a pain to do. Wasted a couple hours baby sitting the printer and of course near the end it grabbed a couple pages one time and got the last bunch of 30 pages or so out of order, requiring doing that part again. So if you can find a place that we do it for $30-40 buck probably a better way then the do it yourself method.
