Vegas Video crashing on import

I have V V 3 and it's crashing when I even mouse over certain video files I want to import

I now use WP 9 , did that cause problems?

It seems wmv and some asf files are the problem

Anyone know how to correct this?

PS I've been converting some problem files to avi and mpeg and they then import as a temporary work around

you have autopreview enabled? Try disabling that. but, most likely it's a codec that WM9 installed (I know that WM6 worked great with ASF but I needed to search for a codec to use them in WM9)
