Vegas Video performance

I just downloaded the new beta of Vegas Video, and, among
other things, I noticed a dramatic increase in performance
compared to Vegas Pro when firing up an old project. I was
even more satisfied to notice that my old Vegas Pro had got
a similar speed boost. Very nice =)

However.

I'm on a very limited budget, and will almost certainly not
do any video multitracking, so there is not much
featurewise that can convince me to buy Vegas Video for the
moment. My question is:

Is this performance boost intentional, to persuade Vegas
Pro users to upgrade to Vegas Video, or can we expect an
update of the Vegas Pro core too? I choose to believe in
the latter, since I don't recognize these dirty tricks as
the style of Sonic Foundry, but I'd really appreciate an
answer on this.

Hey -
There is a post on the website in the FAQ database for Vegas Video
about price and upgrades. There will be a Vegas Video 2.0 and Vegas
Audio 2.0
