You have to go to a special offer link. Sonic Foundry should have sent
you an eMail, unless you had changed your customer profile and asked
them not to send you special offers.

Go to: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/promo.asp?keycode=6859

This offer is only valid for current Video Factory licensees.

Been there, done that! All I see at the referenced site (http://www.sonicfoundry.com/promo.asp?keycode=6859) is an offer to upgrade from Vegas Video 2 to Vegas Video 3. Is that a full install or do I need to have Vegas Video 2 for it to work?
Chienworks wrote on 11/25/2001, 6:57 AM
That's the full thing. Install it and you'll have Vegas Video 3 running.
I'm assuming the catch is that you will have a hard time registering it
unless you've also got a Video Factory registration on file.

I am a registered owner of VideoFactory 2.0. When I try to purchase the upgrade for VegasVideo 3.0 I get the followinf message:

In order to purchase Upgrade Vegas Video 2.0 to Vegas Video 3.0, you must be a registered user of Vegas Video 2.0. Please enter a qualifying serial number below:

Has anyone that currently has only VideoFactory (NOT Vegas Video) actually purchased an upgrade?

Hmmmm. I'll be attempting it on Thursday (payday). I'll let you know
how it goes.

Just did ! Don't click on the "Upgrade Now" button. Click on the price options at the end of the page. I'm buying the 'hard copy' so I don't know about the registration(s) etc.... anyone ?

I ordered the hard copy also. When ordering they ask for a keycode. You'll need to enter the keycode to get the discounted price.

Look in your email notification for the line that reads:
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/promo.asp?keycode=XXXX

GO TO THE ABOVE SITE. XXXX is some actual 4 digit code.

If you didn't get a email notification, then request a catalog, according to their web site. If you are a registerd user of VF2 you probably can get a keycode if you call.

Thanks! You broke the code!

Instead of tring to request an upgrade -- I went right to the bottom of the page and clicked on the $149.95 price. That led me through the ordering process. I downloaded the software and manual and saved them to a CD disk.

I went through the install process, registered on-line, and tried it out. From what I have been able to see so far, everything seems to be okay.

By the way, I also noticed that EBay has an unopened copy of Vegas Video for bid. Bid was up to about $157, but you could purchase it outright for $395!

Question:
If you buy the hardcopy - Do you have to wait to recieve the box before you can unluck the demo or do they give you a reg. key at the same time?

I too am trying to update but when I follow the steps outlined here and enter the 4 digit code I still get a price in the $400+ range. I would appreciate it if someone could outline the steps one by one to get the $149.00 upgrade from Video Factory.
Thanks,
Barry
BTW: I did email support but they did not reply.

enter the following url:
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/promo.asp?keycode=6859

scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on $149.95 price

that should enter the code properly and allow you to proceed with the order. Do not select the upgrade option since that appears to require a SN from Vegas Vedio 2.0
bjtap wrote on 11/29/2001, 8:29 PM
I appreciate the info but when I go to that page there is no $149.95 price listed, only those in the $400+ range. Selecting these and including the 4 number password still leads to $400+ prices.
Note: I use cut and paste to get to the address. Even though I do this I end up at: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/Products/NewShowProduct.asp?PID=612
Thanks,
Barry

I tried the url before I made my last post, and again just a minute ago. Both times I get to the page that shows the $149.95 price. I also see that the url has changed to what you indicated, but the $149 price is still there. I can't explain the problem you are having.

James and others,
Tried the link again early on the 30th and the correct price did appear and I did complete the order... maybe. My billing address is a PO BOX which they did not accept even though I listed a street address in the shipping area. We'll see... but thanks for all you help.
