Vegas Video3 or Vegas Audio2

I need to add audio to small movie clips for a video game. I only need to work with single clips and would prefer these to be .WMV due to good size / quality. Much prefered to Cinipack or Intel Indeo which is what the artists exported in the past.

I KNOW Vegas Audio 2 renders .WMV (with the fix for XP & SP1) but it does not seem to want to load .WMV as a source to work with.

Do I need to update to Vegas Video3 in order to get this functionality (at a considerable cost) or do I have a problem?

Please answer quick - I have work to do :)

Vegas 2 will not load .wm of any type.

Vegas 3 will load .wm but it is not an ideal source format. If you can use .avi source material and output to .wm at the end of the edit session, you'll get the best results.

Thanks SonicEPM.

From what standpoint is .WM not ideal to work with?

It is imortant that I have files that work well in Vegas and any audio I export will be the same length as the original uncompressed .AVI What really matters to me is the timing and length or the source is not affected by compression. Does .WMV alter this? Or is there some other reaon it is not ideal?

(From the artist POV outputing .WMV is much quicker than say Indeo or Cinepak and is better quality per MB)

BTW, when exporting I'm only really intersted in the audio, I would only render a .WMV file as a 'demo' so those concerned can listen to the audio in context.

Thanks for your advice :)
