Vegas vs Win98

I've got Win98 "first edition" and want to install Vegas Audio. I've updated both DirectX to 8.0x per SF's instructions but the installer quits on me! What's up with this? Is there a workaround? WHy should MS get $25 from me just so I can run Vegas Audio?!?

the 1st version of windows 98 is pretty UNstable. i think the upgrade is worth it. yeah, MS is making a lot of dough with bug fixes.

The minimum system requirement to run Vegas is that you have Windows 98SE, ME, or 2000 Pro installed.
