i did a search but didn't see a recent wishlist of improvements to Vegas here... most of my wishes are somewhat trivial, but i'd love it if someone involved with development saw them, so i'll post here just in case...
~
FOLDERS
like they have in Acid, to group tracks and open/close selections quickly.
AUDIO ANALYSER
there arescopes for video, but no RMS/Peak/Phase for audio?!? Vegas started off as an audio app; it seems an obvious tool. (having to use a plug-in for it means u can't monitor what's happening while u adjust EQ or compression... see below)
MULTIPLE FX WINDOWS
it drives me nuts using filters (audio or video) and not being able to see/use more than one at a time.
16BIT FILTERING
In After Effects if you use a plug-in that is only 8bit when operating in 16bit mode you are warned. I've spotted numerous problems using levels in Vegas (according to the videoscopes) where filters are operating in 8bit (razor-stepping of gradents for instance).
IMPORT IMAGE-SEQUENCE
I've had problems with TGA and PNG sequences (the only two image-sequence formats I regularly receive) where a "rip" will appear in the transition from one sequence to another. When rendered, this damaged visual info is passed on to the new file, so it IS something Vegas "sees".
I have seen postings on every Vegas list/forum regarding this, but they are infrequent. To my eye it reminds me of faulty delta-offset info, but I'm no expert in this area, soooo...
EXPORT IMAGE SEQUENCE
I always use After Effects for this as Vegas is slow and has limited choice... plus, given the strangeness of the above, I'm hesitant to use it.... this is a smaller request, given I already have a workflow solution for it.
RGB WAVEFORM VIDEOSCOPE
I do a lot of work outputting to RGB as well as YUV. Having a switch that'd change the IRE / % listings to 0-255 on the waveform scope would be handy.
TRANSITION FX
More please! Particularly...
A collection of ripple-dissolve settings (dissolve to dream / past) is something I have to make myself currently... given some of the (imo) unimportant transition fx provided, something as commonly used as this seems an oversight. I get a fair amount of animated content where this kind of effect is regularly in demand.
ORGANIZED SCRIPTS
I know I know. There's lots out there. That's actually part of the problem... the inclination to wade thru a few hundred of 'em to see what's useful is pretty small. Having a larger collection already organized would be great.
Utility - specific scripts to automate settings of individual parameters in groups (yeh i am aware some of these already exist)
Batch - sub-batching where I can specify within a batch (this file mpeg, that one mp4, etc)
I'm sure there's better uses than the above; but those two categories came to mind)

thx for your attention and thx for the great software... really appreciate the "no recompression required" recently added... MXF import is working out great as well... is EXR output in the pipeline sometime?

ps - plz feel free to merge this posting with another if the topic already exists currently.
