Vegas Won't load large files

When i try to load large files from sony hdrsr8e camera to sony vegas plat 8.0, vegas freezes then operates without anything loaded on the time line.
It is only happenin to 2.5gb MTS files and greater, it only happens to these few large files. smaller file 1k mb to 2.0gb mts files are fine
I really need these files to edit thsem can anyone help.

AVCHD support had an overhaul on Vegas Platinum 9. So install the trial, and see if it works. If it does, you might have to upgrade. Platinum 9 would install on parallel to your v8, so there's no collision problem.
