Sorry about the vague question, I shoot the footage on HD on an F330 I connect the fire wire lead F330 to computer, with pc remote on an showing on the f330 lcd, I then open Vegas go to XDCAM explorer click on import XDCAM disk icon, the Import XDCAM disk box appears I press device browse file access mode, chose root of XDCAM disk box opens, Now this is what I mean by locate, on windows XP the XDCAM appeared under (COMPUTER) with Vista it does not, I have deleated the old prodisk software and reinstalled the latest from Sony service (several times) I have disabled inti virus software I have also done a clean install of vista on the computer, and still no go, so what I need to know is does anyone do what I am trying on a vista (HOME PREMIUM) computer or will I have to upgrade to vista ultimate or business
Not that I know anything about this version of XDCAM or Vista however Windows does treat firewire ports as network connections and Vista could be adding some form of firewall / security wall that's stopping access to the drive. This is at times the source of some issues under XP, maybe, just maybe under Vista things get more aggressive and the problem could be solved by disabling the firewire network connection.
Thanks all for your responses to my XDCAM Vista question I have tried all suggestions including an email to Simon Wyndham (as yet I have had no reply from him ) likewise Phil Myers from Sony who my dealer H Prestons recomended phoning, I am beginning to regret my latest purchase, (Mesh Hush i7) as Vista home premium, seems to be a step backwards and the lack of help from Sony, and Windows Microsoft, leaves a lot to be desired
