XSACTO wrote on 5/20/2003, 1:21 AM
I installed vegas4 on windows 2000 and a " msiexec.exe program has generated errors
and will be shutdown by windows " message appears yet the vegas4 says that it has installed successfully and upon opening the program after installation i receive another error that reads " ordinal 12 could not be located in the dsound.dll link library "

could someone explain this.

any help would surely be appreciated.

thanks

Try downloading the 4.0c update again for starters- it is possible the installer you have is corrupt.

Next ,uninstall your existing version of Vegas 4- complete uninstall.

Re-install using the freshly downloaded 4.0c update installer, choose yes to overwrite everything (if pormpted).

I bet this fixes it.

I've downloaded the vegas 4.0c but the problem still shows it still can't be installed without and error message appearing and still wont load without looking for ordinal 12
although vegas 4.0c runs fine on win98se.

any thoughts on this.

I think there is a service that the default Vegas requires in order to start up . Something to do with internet access triggering (for Sf auto update checking ). Could be the probelm if you've been doing some system tweaking ...

I was also having problems with the upgrade from Vegas 4.0b to 4.0d..
one time it made 3 icons on the desktop that did not work...I did not want to start over..i was in the middle of a job with many things that seem to work fine...(XP likes to eat Vegas)...?

When I did get Vegas 4.0D to load it opened with a Bill Gates error? But after that it was happy?

I think you are referring to the RPC service. It has to be turned on for SF apps to work. I've seen some tweak sites telling people to turn it off ...
