What version of Windows?
What version of DX do you have installed?

Windows XP.....DX?

DX - DirectX.

This error is typically caused by an older version of DirectX being installed.

I would suggest that you apply any updates and reinstalled DirectX 9.0a at the very least.

Thanks Pete...I soon realized waht DX stood for after I submitted the post (I'm also a ham radio operator and DX has a totally different meaning there...LOL). I will check the version of Direct X (work computer). I suspect my problem may be due to a windows problem during the updade (I had a windows explorer error box pop up at the end of the install). So far though, I haven't seen any problems with the operation of the program...just the annoyance of the error pop-up during boot-up of Vegas....

After purchasing ACID Pro and installing, it would not even open without crashing...downloaded latest version of Direct X...fixed both problems (Vegas and Acid Pro)!....thanks
