'vegas40k.dll' at Address 0x1000000

I have been trying to get to the bottom of this error for the past week. Can't figure out what may be causing vegas to stop rendering the veg file in midstream. Anybody got any ideas?

I tried removing effects one-by-one, tried removing the audio file, tried re-installing Vegas and Directx x drivers. Tried to single out the part of the video that might have been causing this but I can't quite get it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ttt

Anybody any ideas on this? Please!

Are you mixing file types in your project? Like AVI, QuickTime, etc...
ReneH wrote on 3/18/2004, 9:01 AM
I'll double check that. I'm using stills and adding effects to them as I edit. Could some stills be casing this?
ReneH wrote on 3/18/2004, 9:04 AM
The stills are jpegsand I have an mp3 audio track added in. What gives?

I had a similar problem, which I never did solve. It also had a combination of JPEGs, video, and audio.

I was attempting to render up in size, though, to NTSC, just as an experiment for a DVD. Mine was crashing with the same "Engine_RenderFromCookedSlices" message, but in a different DLL than the one you listed.

It rendered to a WMV, which was fine, 'cause it was for the web anyway.

Still getting same error when rendering to wmv file format. Interestingly, I never had the same error before I souped up my system. I was using 1 gig dimm ram and amd 1.2 gig chip. I have 512 pc3700 and 3.0 gig athlon and am getting these errors. I wonder if it is due to memory?

You can test your hardware with Prime95. http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm Plan to let that run overnight.

2- Why did you get PC3700 RAM by the way? If you don't overclock it does no good. If you do, then you really need to test your system for stability.

3- \What is your CPU, really? AMD doesn't make 3.0ghz chips.
ReneH wrote on 3/19/2004, 6:03 PM
Athlon XP 3000+ at 2163 mhz. As for the pc3700 ram, what the heck, I didn't give it some thought! LOL! Perhaps I should overclock the damn thing? I'll try to test the system with the prog and see if that helps. Also, I have an intel pentiumIII 600 mhz and 128 meg ram, and the veg file error occurrs as well. I can't figure it out.

I think I may have found the probelm that may have been causing this error code to occurr. I have a dual monitor setup where I open the main vegas prog on one monitor and the preview window on the other. I had a hunch that perhaps if I moved the preview window back and either dock it with the main prog, or just leave it floating over the main monitor, the problem might be solved. Lo and behold, the troubling scene rendered nicely! It probably has to do with the nvidia driver for my dual monitor card? The monitr driver? Any ideas? At least I found what was causing the error and it can be easily prevented by docking back the preview wind back to Vegas.
RangerJay wrote on 3/22/2004, 9:01 AM
I have a dual-monitor setup as well, and I did have the monitor open on monitor 2. Perhaps that was why I was getting that error message.

If I get time, I'll test that theory.
