Vegas7 -> DVHS?

This should be a simple question, but I'm stumped.

I've got two JVC DVHS decks (the 30000 and the 40000) and would like to:

1 - Write / record / render to tape completed projects (in HD) to the DVHS decks so that the content can be viewed on any DVHS deck.

2 - Convert raw video (through vegas via conversion to a less compressed format than HDV?) from HDV to DVHS (in HD again) for archive purposes.

Does anybody have any ideas / help for me?

I seem to recall somewhere, sometime while using Vegas7 that a rendering format option was "to DVHS deck" or something...but I can't seem to replicate it.

Does anyone know the specifics for DVHS HD? (I believe that it's mpeg-2 and can be 1080i or 720p...but not toally sure, there, either).

Regardless, any help would be SINCERELY appreciated!

Regards,

Ray

You use the print to tape function.

When you plug in the firewire cable, Vegas sees the device and sets the output to an acceptable format(s) (selectable).

You can also use the JVC import/export capture program, no need to use Vegas.

DVHS plays back multiple file formats, usually m2t. I know it also does 1080i & 720P. You cannot uncompress from this format, thats as good as it gets.

Many thanks...I hadn't even thought about using DVHScap (which is what I assume you are talking about as a 'stand - alone' import / export outside of Vegas).

So:

HDV -> DVHS: Directly (DVHScap?) OR Vegas (HDV->Vegas->Write to tape)

Completed Vegas Project (HD) -> DVHS (1080i or 720p): Write to tape (again, via Vegas).

DVHS -> Vegas: Standard capture (?)

Many, many thanks again!
