vegas80.exe process active after Vegas shutdown

Hi,

Anyone else seeing this?

After I close down Vegas (8.0b) , the vegas80.exe process remains active in Task Manager - sometimes but not always taking up 25% of processor activity and ~115Mb memory. If I load and close Vegas several times, each process takes up the same resources - right up to 100% of processor! On exiting Windows (XP, SP2) these processes have to be killed separately. Same thing goes for vidcap60.exe.

Any ideas?

I have disabled Kaspersky and uninstalled MB Looks 3 beta as they seemed the most likely candidates but that had no effect. I've also updated my video drivers.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Ian . . .

UPDATE: It's happening every time now, without exception. Also I have just noticed that I am getting an exit error with the process NVOpenGLPBuffer which I assume is an Nvidia process. I have recently updated my graphics drivers and that has not cured the issue.

I"m not seeing this under Vista 64.
I have an XP sp2 machine which is running Vegas 7.0d .. don't see it there either.

I have seen this - not sure if it was 8.0a or 7.0x - but I have seen it before - had to kill the process via taskmngr

I'm about to reinstall Vegas to see if that gets rid of the issue.

Real pain as I only recently re-installed and it's only just now that I have got all those odd little preferences back to how I like them. Damn nuisance not being able to save a preferences file (or is some kind soul going to say that there IS a way?!).

Other than Preset Manager to save FX chains, your custom render templates can be saved as well.
All of these templates are in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sony\File Templates
Where <username> is your windows account name.
Just copy them over to your new PC and they should be recognized.

Bob (Farss) was also complaining of this.

I haven't personally seen this but you're evidently not alone.

Thanks Rob, I'll search on his posts in a second. I suppose there's some comfort in not being the only one!

Meanwhile, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas but this had no effect - the problem persists.

Hmmm . . . doesn't look like Bob's issue is necessarily the same as mine. I'll open a trouble ticket and see where that leads. Cheers. Ian . . .
