VegasPro 18 crashes when I try to close a project

ernie-tamminga wrote on 8/6/2020, 12:57 PM

I got a couple of good days of performance with the new VegasPro18, but as of this morning, it crashes every time I try to close my project. Same if I try to create a NEW project, because that automatically tries to close the existing project. Restarting the computer didn't help. Looks like I'm out of business for now -- I will probably try reinstalling, and see if that helps.

I did update the Graphics driver, as VegasPro wanted me to do. That didn't help.

***UPDATE: I went into the house and had lunch and came back out to the studio, and VegasPro started working properly again. I guess it was hungry.

BTW, in many times, when I close Vegas Pro 18, it does close but I also get the crash report!

This has happened to me as well. In my judgement, the project was simply "cursed," and I re-did it. It also crashed when I tried to delete all the clips at once, but was OK when I deleted them all by halves.

Could you screen shot your crash report?

It just started happening to me again, too. I'm about to try the possible solution that "Recycled" mentioned back in August... In the meantime, I can't use Vegas.

UPDATE: Found a workaround. I turned off the "Automatically load most recent project" option and saved my project, then EXITED Vegas instead of Closing. Then relaunched Vegas, and started a new project successfully. I'm assuming my prior project will still crash if I open it and try to close it, but I'll worry about that later...

this also happen to me from time to time when I close Vegas or when render is finished and not related to specific project

sakendrick wrote on 12/12/2020, 10:10 AM

happens almost every time... but it is after all work is done and no real loss. The only issue is it doesn't save any settings I may have changed. I will say, otherwise, this build has been more stable and haven't been getting any mid editing crashes which is great.
