VegasVideo and CD-Text? Is it possible?

Hi there!

I wonder if it were possible to burn CD-Text compatible CD's with VV3. I searched in the forum but wasn't able to find the answer. All the metadata are there at "Edit details", but after having burned the CD, the text-information is lost.
I consider CD-text as a mighty feature.
At the moment I have to burn an audio-CD to a CD-RW from VV, then extracting the stuff with Exact Audio Copy, edit the cue-sheet there (i.e. retype the information VV already has at the markers) and burn to a CD-R again to get CD-Text information on the final CD :-( .
Why CD-text? Besides it is nice to see what you are listening to it is a great thing when grabbing from CD (e.g. with Exact Audio Copy). No need to retype song-title or interpret - you get the song to the harddisk with correct naming.

Thanks for any answer in advance.

Chris

Sorry, CD-TEXT is not supported in VV3 at this time. You have some good points, however.

ISRC codes are entered in the ISRC column of Edit Details in Audio CD Track List mode.

If you're not getting them written to your disc, does your drive support writing them?

Are you getting UPC/MCN written?

Hello Dennis

You will be mistaken with the intention of my menssage, I write ISRC codes with Vegas (With a CD burner with a CD Text support), the ISRC codes are a type of CD text. Vegas can record CD Text (ISRC codes), but don't write the song names. There was the intention of my post.

But I agree with _chris_, is a nice adition for Vegas the ability of write song names.

Thanks. I didn't realize ISRC codes were a form of CD-TEXT (obviously, I didn't implement the VV3 CD functions <g>). If we're already that close, I'm sure adding CD-TEXT for song names wouldn't be an unexpected addition in a future version. I'll make sure the powers that be are aware of the request.

The main difference between ISRC codes and CD-Text is that ISRC codes (along with contents, timing, and catalogue information) are carried in the Q-subcode channel and CD-Text is carried in the R,S,T,U,V and W channels.

CD Architect and VV will write to the P and Q channels, but not to the R-W channels that carry the CD-Text information. But I don't believe there is any real technical problem involved in writing to the R-W channels so I'm hopeful that a future version of VV will have CD-Text facilities added.
