Velocity in Vegas pro 20 for windows 10

I noticed when I tried to use velocity to speed up a clip… 1. It only does the video clip and not the sound that goes with it. And 2. It will speed up the clip, but somehow the beginning is at the end of the clip… any body know why this is… it sucks, because I just want to simply speed the clip up… I could do it in older versions, but something is truly off… and before I could put the mouse at the end of the clip and see a squiggly line to change the velocity on the fly… I spent hours messing with this and am getting nowhere… can any one pleeeese help??

That is how a velocity envelope works and used to work.
You can control and click the end to change the length on the fly.
You can also right-click on the event and go to properties and change the playback speed.

For repeating, look for the carrot at the top of the clip which shows where the video ends and it starts to loop. You can shorten the length of the event to keep it from repeating.

Hey RogerS thank you! I hadn’t used Vegas probably since version 7 or 10…. And so I’m just getting back into the swing of things… Also, would you happen to know how to change the speed for the sound as well? I selected both of them and then Control and then move them over but Speed of the sound doesn’t match the velocity of the video, maybe because I had change the velocity first on the video…. Don’t know…Guess I’ll just have to play with a little more. Anyway thanks again it’s been a big help.👍

If you have Sound Forge Pro installed, its 'elastique timestretch' audio plugin is available in Vegas Pro which allows you to increase/decrease the speed of the audio as well as the pitch.

Otherwise, Vegas Pro 20 has 'ExpressFX Time Stretch' which may do something similar - I've never used that FX so can't attest to it.

Just drag the end of the event with CTRL pressed to slowdown or speed up (25%-400%) the event and audio will also change. Also no issues then with change of event length as mentioned in point 2.

Elastique Timestretch is also built into Vegas Pro, via the Audio Event properties.
