Ver 19 Patch 651 Won't Run with Win10?

hurricane1951 wrote on 5/5/2023, 4:01 AM

I'm trying to install the patch for Vegas Pro 19 B651, but Windows 10 returns this error:

This app can't run on your PC
To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher

As far as I can tell, Windows is up to date, and Vegas is 19 B648.

Are there specific requirements that I'm not aware of?

@hurricane1951

I am just guessing here, but if build 651 for V19 is rumored to fix a May 3 windows 11 update issue; then it may not be compatible with windows 10.

I am at windows 11 and both V19 and V20 update patches work.

The problem with VP 19 and 20 have nothing to do with Windows Update and they affect Windows 10 computers (like the one I am typing on.)

Very strange about your PC- it's a 64-bit operating system? If build 648 installed so should the new one. Perhaps submit a support request as I've not seen any other cases of this.

I was able to update VP 19 to 651 on my 64-bit Windows 10 Home OS.

Right, I think that Vegas Pro 19 runs also with Win10.

Thank you for your confirmation.

Means, that something else goes wrong for @hurricane1951

Have you tried to install the new build with administration rights? Or to de-install the old build, and then install the new one?

Windows Pro ver 10.19045.2846. Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU. AMD Ryzen 9 3900 XT CPU. Both Vegas Pro 19.0.0 B648 and ver 20.0.0 B214 are installed.

I wanted to apply the patch because neither of the versions of Vegas would launch. I noticed it today for the first time, but I was using it fine as recently as 2 weeks ago. I've updated all drivers, and I got a WER Fault when shutting down once, so I ran an SFC /scannow which found some corrupted system files and corrected them. Ran an extensive scan with Malwarebytes (nothing found). At long last I found that both versions of Vegas would run if I disconnected the PC from the LAN. All other apps run fine and as far as networking goes, nothing's odd, just Vegas. I was hoping that the patch might fix things since it's supposed to fix startup problems, but since it won't install it appears I'll have to look elsewhere.

I was hoping that the patch [presumably meaning builds 403 and 651] might fix things since it's supposed to fix startup problems, but since it won't install it appears I'll have to look elsewhere.

Can you please describe in more detail what happens during the installation process. Assuming that you have successfully downloaded the updates, if the install process stalls (i.e. the install progress bar), try opening the Task Manager (shift-ctrl-del) - but don't close the install - and end process any instances of Vegas Pro (probably two under the processes list. The install should then progress with the installation.

It's amazing how many affected by this problem have threatened to move to another NLE. IMO it's a cheap shot. If your internet provider has an unexpected loss of signal, do you automatically think about going to another provider? If your electricity provider has an unexpected blackout, do you automatically decide to move to another provider (if there is one)? If there is an unexpected traffic jam on the drive to work, do you decide to take a different route to work from then on (even though it may suffer a traffic jam)? Even though problems like experienced with this recent Vegas Pro problem (which no-one wants), please keep it in perspective.

hurricane1951 wrote on 5/5/2023, 9:10 AM

Dexcon - I'm not sure you are responding to my question -- nothing happens during the install process because the install process won't launch. And I haven't mentioned anything about switching to another app.

hurricane1951 wrote on 5/5/2023, 9:12 AM

OK, I did install the update, but not by running the executable that I downloaded. I launched the setup for 19.0.0 Build 550 and during setup it prompted me if I wanted to update the version to --- Build 651. So it got installed and Vegas 19 now launches.

Reyfox wrote on 5/5/2023, 9:37 AM

@hurricane1951 glad that you got it installed. I think that @Dexcon might be venting because of all the comments about users leaving for another product.

I've vented big time to another Vegas user who is a friend of mine what I thought about those comments coming from people who say they are long time users and only have a couple of posts.

I did the update with VP20 yesterday without any problems except a slow download speed. It took 20 minutes to get both Vegas and the AI file. Once done, I was good. I am now also good with VP19 on my Win10 Pro drive.
