Version 6 won't load on Win7

I have been running Vegas 6.0a for a few weeks on my Win7 machine (fresh install on a new HD when I moved from XP to Win7) and suddenly the application hangs on start up. I tired compatibility mode, run as administrator, and even reloading without success.

Has anyone else experienced this. I only make a few movies a year and don't really want to upgrade if I can avoid it.

It's difficult to say without a bit more info. Have you moved from Windows Classic theme to one of the Aero themes? This might cause it. I have Media Studio Pro 7 which worked on XP but the only way I could get it to work on Win 7 was to change the Windows theme to Classic.
Another thing you may have to do is to turn DEP off for VMS although it probably isn't this as you say it as worked previously. However, if you want to try this, this is how you do it:-

Click START,
Right Click COMPUTER,
select Properties, go to Advanced System Settings,
then go to Performance... click on Settings,
and then to: Data Execution Prevention (DEP),
select: Turn on dep for all programs except those I select,
Click on the Add... button.. browse to the VMS exe file.
and finally: restart if told to.
