When I nest a vegas file inside of a vegas file the audio peaks go away. The audio is still there when I play back the project, but there are no visible signs of audio in the track.
I haven't got exactly what you say. BUT, having just now tested it, I have had to go to a back to a BAK version of same VEG to open WITH the video and sound showing at all! Nesting the BAK version has worked. I must have made a mistake on closing the top level VEG? Hmm...
I have a project with multiple audio and video tracks. If I nest the veg for this project, ALL audio disappears except for that on the lowest track (which is usually sound effects for my projects).
All other audio really has gone! Makes nesting useless for me.
For the missing audio peaks - Did you wait a while to give Vegas the chance to build the peaks? Them are rebuild when nesting and this could last a while.
I tried this experiment...does this describe your situation closely?
nest1 veg = 2 avis atop one another (4 tracks...2 video, 2 audio).
1 audio track underneather with music
nest2 veg = same setup, using different media.
master veg = nest1veg + nest2veg side by side.
All plays well, audio and all. (Though, of course, the timeline of the master veg only shows two track (vid+aud) for the entire nested veg, regardless of the complexity of the nested veg.)
I had 4 audio tracks on solo and about 7 of the 10 video tracks on solo. When I removed all the tracks from being on solo my nested project showed the peaks like it's supposed to.
