Version of MainConcept MPEG Encoder offered as VF plugin

Can anyone tell me which version of the MainConcept MPEG Encoder stand-alone product the VF product most closely resembles in terms of functionality? 1.3, the version available from MainConcept since last November? Earlier? Also, I've heard MainConcept will be releasing 1.4 (support for WAV and 2-pass VBR) in the next few weeks. How quickly do the improvements made by MainConcept make it into the VF plugin?

Thanks.

Bruce

There is no correlation between the version number you see for the MainConcept plug-in and the standalone product version. To see the MainConcept plug-in version information from within VF2 you'll need to use Make Movie | Write to disk | Advanced Render | About).

The most recent version is VideoFactory 2.0c, my executable is dated 1/22/02. It shipped with a MainConcept plug-in build which of course is considerably older than what we are shipping now with Vegas 4.0c.

What you can do is go to the Vegas 4.0c update location on our web page and look at the release notes. There was an RGB clamping problem in the MainConcept encoder that was fixed in the 4.0c update and there may have been other encoder bug fixes documented in the release notes for previous versions.

If you download and install the Vegas 4.0c demo, it will update your MainConcept plug-in to a more recent version so you will see these improvements using MainConcept MPEG from VideoFactory as this plug-in is shared among our applications.

Thanks for the response. I assume this holds true for the Screenblast MovieFactory product as well?
