Very Cool Vegas Video

I'll let the video speak for itself. I shot it as well as encoded it. WARNING: Dial up beware it's a 10.2 MB MPEG-1 video.

I had the video linked for about 8 hours, but sorry folks I've got to stop now. I was expecting maybe 20 to 30 views. Not 120 to 130 views. I had no idea this forum had that kind of spread.

Wow.. I can't imagine the skill it takes to pilot one of those things. Nice hold on the place especially in a zoom.

As "ThehappyFriar" suggested I uploaded the video to vegasusers.com. I received a mesage that said, "the video was being reviewed for posting". I'll check back later to see if the video passed the review?

If someone else sees it first I labeled the video, "U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds in knife edge pass".

I don't think I can send a 10 MB email. Can I ftp it to you?

Yes, just give me the ftp info and I'll download it. Send it to:

TAMPA! Great Stuff! . . This vegas 4 is very excellent indeed. Your shooting is too good .. can you give us some spec . . ? Camera? Shutter speed? FPS? . . . nicely slowed down. How many passes to get it slowed down? 100%> 10%? Render then 100% down again . .or what?

Thanks for sharing,

Grazie

Grazie, it could have been done in one pass with Velocity Envelope. It lets you go down to any slow speed all the way to still.

Yes Kellsie . .but the clarity, the clarity . . too good! - I thought maybe filmed at a high speed then slowed . . yeah?

I think it's clear because the shutter speed was high. FPS doesn't look higher than normal to my eyes. Was this from the airshow last weekend?

Answers to your questions. The camera was/is a SONY TRV730 digital 8 camcorder on the sports setting. What the sports setting translates to in shutter speed the manual does not say, bust as you can see very fast to capture two Thunderbirds passing at 1000 MPH closing speed. I captured to Vegas via firewire on a SONY VAIO GRX 670 using the digital video template. As chienworks speculated the slow motion to freeze frame was done using the velocity envelope. Gradually slowing the envelope down to zero until that exact moment on the time line when the the jets were side by side. It's a very time consuming process to find that exact moment on the time line, but worth it when the final project was rendered. Speaking of rendering I chose mpeg-1 to be windows and internet friendly, but I wish you could see the mpeg-2 and DVD. If you thought the mpeg1 was clear you wouldn't believe how well the mpeg2 came out! Finally, the video was shot at the Florida state air show, not the Macdill airfest.
I hope that answers everyones questions and I'm glad you are enjoying the effort.
