Very good things: Latest info on VA 2.0b issues

JoeD wrote on 11/20/2000, 2:10 PM
First, I want to thank Dave Hill at SF for personally
keeping in
contact on the issue (freeze/crash). Again, it shows the
SF will go
that extra yard to confirm customer satisfaction.

DaveH has helped me zero in on the problem "I" am seeing
when
resizing/scrolling in VA2.0b while playing back a project.

With the video preview window removed/undocked (I don't
need it) and
the audio meters being UNDOCKED (floating)....Vegas 2.0b is
just
beautiful. No Problems, freezes/crashes.

** when the audio meters are in a DOCKED state, then I can
reproduce
the freeze/crash. I am confident SF will address this
issue and
update us (or me if I'm the only one :).

So I say a big RIGHT ON!!! to SF at this point.

Thanks for sticking with me on this and not blowing this
customer off
on a very real problem. That is just great.

thanks again,
Joe

FWIW, I have tried to reproduce this behavior on two different
machines running VV2.0b and have not been able to.

KAC ...

I must be stupid... I can not figure out how to un-dock the meters
and preview window. I can turn them off but in the 2 minutes I tried -
I couldn't make them float.

I do occasionally experience this type of lockup on a clean install
of WinMe or Win98SE.

PIII 800
ATA/100 30GB 7200rpm drives
Matrox G400 AGP
128 RAM

Tim -
There are two vertical lines on the left edge of each docked window
(ridges). Click on them and drag away from the dock. This will allow
them to "float"

Sometimes, when playing back a 24-bit project which has reverbs/etc.
effects chains.....

then clicking in certain points in the project - the audio will sound
as if the fx busses are the only ones playing......stop
playback...click again and it works itself out - but happens
repeatedly every other time or so)

this happen to anybody?

It's not high on my worry list cause it can work itself out (with
start/stop)....but it is annoying.

anyway, I hope they fix the freeze/crash error. I'm pretty sure they
will.
