Not much for Audio users but maybe its time to learn more video production stuff?

Maybe ACID is the host of all the Audio Production features?

The sad part is that it seems that SMS is arrogantly carrying on without seeing how much more other audio production tools offer users.

Maybe I will upgrade I am not sure yet.

Thanks -
Kevin

Pretty much what I was expecting although I still feel sad, disappointed and frustrated to finally see the actual description of V7. Its like losing an old friend – one that I hoped was going to make it throught a trying time. . . but eventually succumed to overwhelming circumstances. . .

Bottom line is that the two feature improvements I see that might slightly enhance my workflow certainly aren't enough to justify the upgrade. I hate going through another learning curve but I guess its time to move on to something else. . .

What seems insane is that, by the looks of it, there are very few new video features to speak of either. A quick glance at the video forum will confirm that the guys there are very unhappy too.

I really don't know what Sony are thinking. In 2006 you can't release a so-called professional app with so little new features, after apparently 18 months worth of development, and expect your user base to be impressed. I get the feeling there's overwhelming disappointment with Vegas 7.

But, hey, I'm sure PSP rendering will come in really handy :|

How long til they turn the lights out in the Vegas Audio forum?

I really don't care what Sony do with Vegas now. It's a video app with (already) great audio functionality.

But they clearly don't expect existing Vegas audio users to buy version 7. What would be the point?

Now let's assume they don't want to lose existing customers (no business does, right?)

The plan must be to have ACID 7 ready soon and hive everyone off to that. Otherwise they'll lose out on an awful lot of upgrade money.

It will need to import all our Vegas 6 sessions (audio items only of course) and it will feature all AND I MEAN ALL of the Vegas audio feature set.

Right?

I'm not surprised if Vegas 7 doesn't meet our needs. But if ACID 7 isn't as good as Vegas 6 in audio terms then SMS have really lost it.

They've got the source code and people like Peter Haller who know exactly how damn good Vegas audio functionality is and must see the flaws and shortcomings of ACID at this stage.

Last chance, guys.

What a joke for an update. Is this what u can come up with after 1 year Sony

I was hoping that acid 6 had more on the editing power that vegas have, but acid for me feels like a baby software still.

So.... maybe this is the bye bye for me

Reaper looks good :)

I'm not sure existing video users are going to buy it either. Plainly, Sony are either lazy or just don't get it. Maybe they think we're all mad?

Nope. They had an astonishing 18 months to come up with this!!

Very very sad indeed.

At least we got VST support in Vegas 6 - there are no new audio features in Vegas 7.

Reaper is shaping up to be a better Vegas than Vegas.

Cheers,

That guy at the splash page needs a better hair cut.

As if that all weren't bad enough, there is no standalone Vegas anymore - only Vegas+DVD. It looks like I'll be sticking to v5 for awhile - it still blows Acid6 out of the water for audio stuff.

Actually, that might be the only reason I would consider upgrading. So I would get the extra DVD features by upgrading from plain-old Vegas 6 for $149?

Still sucks about audio though.

Yes, as much as I would hate purchasing another version of Vegas at this point, DVD and 5.1 capabilities would be worth $150 to me. Anyone receive email re: upgrade price? The current upgrade price on the site is $235.

yeah, I thought about that too. But, then I haven't seen any upgrade offers, so I don't know what it will cost.

Seems like V7 should really be V6.1.

The main thing missing is that should be in any version upgrade is FOLDER TRACKS. Other equiv applications have had this feature for several (?) versions now.

Acid is NOT the answer for Sony audio. Not yet anyway, until Acid gets the same easy logical workflow as Vegas. But even Acid has folder tracks now - WHY NOT VEGAS ?

The other thing (still) missing is project templates. A pain having to have 'blank' projects saved with default starting setups.

So.. it really is only video stuff to get excited about.

Looking more closely maybe the one big new audio feature is Cinescore support. I can see why this would be attractive to video-makers (but not music makers of course).

Problem is if they do a bundle then Vegas well may become known as "the video editor with tools that make the music for you". At that point I think I would be embarrassed to have it running in my music studio! For some people even ACID has a reputation as "making music for you". Vegas never had that problem.

Hey, best thing is, I gotta a copy of V6 for $150 from B & H a short while back. Great Deal.
