VF2: Crash on launch

Videofactory 2 crashes on launch on my system. I did not have this problem with VF1. But when I updated to VF2, the program would crash upon launch. I would get error messages that said either: invalid page fault/general protection fault in EXTMONDRV.DLL or in HCWSOLOCAP.AX. Extmondrv.dll, I discovered, is a VF2 file that deals with video capture. Hcwsolocap.ax is the file that enables my Hauppauge WinTV-PVR card to capture video. I renamed the Extmondrv.dll file with a .bak extension, but the program would recreate the file on launch and then crash. So, then I renamed the file with a .bak extension and created a dummy file named Extmondrv.dll. That maneuver enabled me to launch VF2 without a crash. Of course, I had no video capture capabilities with VF2 at that point. (Renaming Hcwsolocap.ax disables video capture on the TV tuner card, so that is not an option).

When I updated to VF2.0a (as of Oct. 10), the crash on launch occurred again.
Here is the error message:

VIDFACT2 caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff9db61.

Stack dump:

Again, renaming extmondrv.dll and creating a dummy file named extmondrv.dll fixed the crash but the program is without video capture capabilities at this point. Is there a fix for this, or is my PCI WinTV-PVR simply incompatible with VF2's video capture functions?

This sounds like a driver problem with your capture card and something, maybe VF, maybe not.

Can you run other capture apps with this capture card?

I can capture video with the recorder function within WinTV without any problems. But not with VF2. Any ideas?

I have the same problem since I installed the PVR. ACID 3 Pro crashes also. I have sent email to Sonic Foundry several times with only one responce and no help. At least answers to my email to support would be nice.

I can't thank you enough, it not only worked on VF2, it also worked on ACID 3 Pro! I am back in business. Maybe Sonic Foundry should hire you as customer support!

:) Thanks. Although my workaround appears to leave VF2 without capture capabilities. Not such a big deal I suppose since I can capture with my PVR software, but it would be nice to have a real solution instead of my workaround. But the workaround will do for now!
