I'm actually using the Sony Screenblast software, but...
When I export an AVI file it shows up in MF as a Sony DV CODEC - Type 2 and it is an Open DML AVI. I am not quite sure I know what all that means. When I use other apps to export AVIs they are usually Microsoft DV - Type 1 or something close to that. They too are Open DML though.
Now, when I try to import the video into MF, the thumbnail of the video is "digital grafitti". The file will actually play on the computer and through MF software, but when I burn it to DVD, I get the "digital grafitti" again.
Going back to VF2, if I export the AVI and un-check the Open DML file box, then the files seem to work fine in MF2 and burn without a problem.
My understanding though is that by using the Open DML file type then you can go larger than a 2gig file. Limiting myself to 2 gigs in DV doesn't get you much.
Has anyone else had a problem like this.
I am thinking that it is possibly the fault of the Sony DV CODEC. I don't know how to check it or do anything about it however. Sony doesn't seem to care either (no replys).
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Lance
