Is VHC the same as VHS format? I have a friend that has a camcorder with what he tells me is VHC format. If this is the same as VHS? If so I have a Canopus avdc 100 that I believe can convert to DV.

By VHC I assume you are talking about VHSc (also known as compact VHS). If so, yes, it is the same as VHS in every way except cassette size. There is an adapter that will allow you to play the smaller sized cassettes in a standard VHS vcr.
