VMS has a noise reducer VideoFX, you shouldn't need a plugin.

I've looked under the videofx tab for something that would reduce noise, but don't see anything applicable. where can I find it?

I think if you right click on the audio on the timeline, then select 'apply non real time event FX' it will bring up your AudioFX, and there are many that will suit your needs. Let us know. Cin

Thanks to all for their advice. I decided to use NewBlue's Denoiser - seems to work well but is verrrry slow.

The Panasonic set-top VHS / DVD recorders have built-in noise reduction, that works so well that sometimes the DVD is better than the original VHS. Works in real time too.

The OP is asking about video noise reduction, not audio.
