Try launching the Vidcap60.exe application separate from VMS and see if it sees your camcorder.

You have your camcorder hooked up via Firewire cable and the camcorder is in Playback mode, right?

Yes it is in Playback.
What is VMC

VMS is Vegas Movie Studio.

After hooking up your cam (in playback mode), turn it on and you should hear a "bong" sound indicating the PC "sees" your camcorder. A pop-up window should also appear asking what you want to do with the Digital Video Device. Does your PC do this?

Also, right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop, choose Manage, click on Device Manager, click on the + icon for Imaging Devices, is your Sony DV Camcorder listed there.

We need to determine if your computer sees your camcorder first before proceeding.

Vidcap60.exe should be found in C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0.

How do I start VidCap without going into Movie Studio first????

Go to C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0 (or wherever you installed Vegas) and you'll find a file called vidcap60.exe.

Double-click on that to run Vidcap.

VidCap80 wont go Full screen why and is there one that will???
MSmart wrote on 7/30/2010, 3:02 PM
You want to see the video capture full screen? Why?

I'd think full screen mode would used too much system resources and could cause dropped frames. The vid cap preview window is low resolution just for reference only.

Again, why do you want full screen when capturing?
