Vidcap and Photo Sizing.

Hello All.
I have a couple of problems.
1. When I go to export my movie to DV camcorder, and I go through the Make Movie button, Vidcap will not see my DV camcorder when I click print movie to DV-it has always recognized it in the past with no problems. All of the settings are the same as always.
however, If click on the DV Cam icon in my media pool, (thereby tricking Vidcap into thinking I'm going to import) then open my file through File>Open-I can print to tape with no problems. This does not work if I open Vidcap stand alone. Anyone seen this before?
2. All of my video's are bigger than my TV screen, so, After my first rendering I have to go back and crop the photo's that are being chopped off too much. This is a pain to do and it's hard to crop them exactly so I fill the whole screen with the photo without a black border. What setting am I missing?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

When sizing graphics and photos, you have to allow for TV cutoff. This is a part of the screen that is physically blocked by the frame around your TV screen. This is about 10% of the picture area overall.

I have exactly the same issue with PTT and use the exact same procedure as you have described to PTT. Can't figure it out but workaround it. Curious...do you have Windows ME and what is your configuration? Mine is a Dell 4100, 866Mhz, nVidia 32Mg graphics, 70GB hard drive (two 30 & 40), running Window ME. Also have Video Studio 6 installed.

Randy, Yes I am running ME. HP 500MHZ Pavilion, 256M Ram, 60G HD, Also have Video Studio and (gag) Video Wave installed. It used to work fine, now suddenly it acts funny.
Have you tried resetting all of VS settings to defaults?
Weird problem though. What kind of DV camcorder-Mine's a JVC GR820DVLu

Used to have Video Wave 5 installed also. Removed it. Haven't changed any of the VS default setting. I have a Sony Handycam DCR TRV-120. Didn't used to have a problem. Maybe reinstalling Video Factory will fix it. No other ideas.

Not sure what you mean by "global" settings. I've not changed any of the default settings in VF (using DV 720x480 to capture). Haven't changed anything in WindowsME like the video accellerator or other inherent settings. Can you be a little more specific?

Well here's the thing. After months of hair pulling and adjustments to WinME ect etc, today I believe I have found out what and where my PTT problems have been eminating from. Are you sitting down - good. This is weird....

As all of those who have been reading my "Tale-Of-Woe" over this period - 6 months I think - this morning, I used a pure DV Capture from a rather cute Canon miniDV MV4i. I didn't use my Dazzle Hollywood Bridge [hold on people it's NOT what you think!], I didn't do any editing in VF - I just PTTed the same captured file straight out back to the Canon. Dropped frames. - However, having got the ambient and audio levels way down, I could then hear all that was going on my Dell schlap-top. Guess what, the dropped-frames, or blue screen, is happening at the same time as the pc's FAN kicks in!

Now what do I do? I suppose I could speak to Dell ect etc. But what else is lurking in my system I should be looking out for?

Randy, what I was really asking, if you had setup your WinME to work with VF [or any other NLE], but from your reply you have reassured me I'm on the right track. Thank you. I wanted to have the experience of a satisfied WinMEer working with VF. You've done that part of the job. However, from the "Fan" business, I've got a whole new ball game to play with!

It was Chienworks earlier "Hmmmmm...." comment/s about there being something else going awry, that I should be looking at, which put me on a more analytical approach. I've never had the luxury of testing VF with a DV cammy, but now having tested my setup with this Canon means my Dazzle kit has been somewhat vindicated.

Good grief! Leave it to Dell to have the fan linked to the processing system of the computer. Haven't they heard of thermostats? I can't even begin to understand their need for an IRQ for the fan. It's possible to have software monitor the temperature and fan speed without going to that route.

I didn't change a thing on my 'puter.
