Vidcap issues in Vegas Pro 8

Trying to capture some test footage from my HC7's.

I can capture in HDVSplit (Not thrilled with the interface) and the generic capture utility in VP8, but Vidcap throws the following error message:

The device "Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device" could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user.

I want to be able to log specific clips and right now, I can't do that. Funny thing is, PPro 1.5.1 can batch capture the specific clips I want just fine.

I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it - it appears only the internal capture app will see the camera, but I have no option to log the footage so that I can set a batch capture.

Any ideas what the issue is?

Is there a reason why I can't log clips and then run a batch capture with the internal capture utility in Vegas Pro 8??? I'm wanting to capture HDV footage from my HC7's

As far as I know Vegas will not batch capture HDV.

Try the free utility HDV Split.

Looks like SONY Vegas Pro pulls an Apple Final Cut Express when it comes to wanting to batch capture HDV footage - it can't be done.

I'll use HDVsplit for the time being.

I certainly hope the developers in Madison resolve what should be a core component of Vegas Pro 8 since it's being marketed as a professional application for editing video.
