VidCap6.0 hangs

When using vegaspro, the vidcap utility hangs. Sometimes after a minute, sometimes
after 10 or 20 minutes. I've checked and re-checked all the preferences ad nuaseum with no improvement. I've checked my system settings ( e.i. controllers, 1394 etc... ). I"ve disabled my power management, my screen saver and I've disabled all non essential programs listed as running via the task manager.
I run no other programs. whew !

I've been a vegas user since 4.0 and this is a first for me. That being said, I realize I have a few issues to deal with. 1. I'm using xp64pro and 2. I'm running a 64 bit machine. However, vegas 6.0 ran perfectly and was stable on the same machine.

The specs of my machine are:
2.4 AMD
4g ram
high end nvidia card
64bit motherboard
xp64pro operating system

If anyone has a similar issue or if anyone has a suggestion, I'd be very grateful to hear from you I hope I'm not the only vegas user on the planet with this problem. *S*

Thanks in advance,

Mine also hangs on V6 and V7

I think its more the file management (ie inbuilt explorer GUI) that pukes itself..

Typically i have to turn off the camera for it to reset itself.

Just the other day though with the Canon A1 capturing DV from in cam downconvert, it locked up, hung and puked itself BAD

I had to hard reboot in safe mode, and run a scandisc as windows wouldnt even load up.
This on a laptop which hasnt had any issues in the past.

Happened to me last night. Windoz and the 1392 port were having a little domestic and VidCap got caught in the middle. Vidcap refused to be killed. Sorted out the 1394 port, VCR and HDD and all was harmonious.

Thanks guys,

Somewhere I read that turning off my virus protect program might help, but that seems lame and un-necessary to me. Vegaspro8.o worked like a champ and then I lost my mind and took advantage of the recent upgrade to 8.0b. Biiiiiiiiiiiigggggg mistake.

I have no other options at this time so I'm considering re-installing 8.0 and call it good.
Depressed? Yes. BTW, I'm using a JVC pro dv deck to transfer my vids, but I dont feel that this is the prob. Also, I shoot with canon XL's. Never a prob in the past until ver b.

Thanks again guys, we're in this together,
