Video 3D Transitions for vegas, what to buy?

I remember long ago I used the Newtek Flyer at a company and it had a lot of 2D and 3D effects like a football that went across the screen and changed the picture. I decided to go for Vegas Video because it seemed like the best option for the PC.

I noticed on the comparison between the Vegas Video Studio and Vegas 6 that it said the Studio had 550+ 2D and 3D transitions and Vegas 6 just had a checkmark. I figured this meant that it had it all also, but I can't seem to find very many transitions, just the basics, wipes, flashes, etc.

It did come with Boris FX Lt., but I don't see any presets right off and it doesn't work right in Vegas unless you upgrade.

So the question is, do I upgrade to Boris FX full version (is it worth it), or is their some other package that has a bunch of preset transitions that I can just dump in Vegas and use in Slide Show presentations and things like that? Anyone know of something that has themed things you can buy, like wedding transitions, sports, etc.?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

It sounds like you were using Hollywood FX because it has all those sports and wedding transitions built in. Incredibly easy to use and you can import Lightwave 3D objects and manipulated them in 3D space. Unfortunately, Pinnacle took their ball and ran home and now they don’t make Hollywood FX as a plug-in anymore. I still use Hollywood FX Pro by exporting my media to Pinnacle Studio and processing it there and then importing back into Vegas. Not as slick as having a plug-in but nothing does those 3D transitions like Hollywood FX does. So one option is to pick up a copy of Pinnacle Studio cheap and use it as a host for Hollywood FX Pro.

ProDAD make a plug-in for Vegas called Adorage that simulated 3D transitions in a 2D space. It’s not true 3D but it can trick the eye at times.

I’ve never tried Boris FX so I don’t know how good its 3D FX are. There are others here who use it who could tell you.
