Video and audio are not in synchronisation

I have avi-video and audio is mono. Video and audio are not in the sync.
Audio begins before than the corresponding picture-frame. Is it possible to get these in the sync In VMS?

Select the audio on the timeline and hit U, which will ungroup the audio from the video. You can now sync by dragging the audio carefully to the right. (Zoom in to max on the timeline to drag with precission).
