Video/audio capture problem-V8

I'm capturing video and audio from an old VHS camera with monoaural sound (via a Canopus ADVC55). How do I get the audio to both left and right channels WITHOUT downmixing the stereo content on other audio tracks on the timeline?

Right click on audio track > Channels. YOu can select Left or Right or combine.

You could also use a 'Y' adapter cable when connecting the camcorder to the ADVC 55 so that it gets the signal on both channels while capturing. Dave's solution is eleganter though.
