Video / Audio preview

For some reason my computer does not like Vegas any more. I have re-installed and repaired Vegas about 10 times and it still will not allow me to print to tape.

Is there ANY way to preivew the video AND record the audio as you view on an external monitor? I'm in a pinch and have to get this project finished.

Thanks,
D

The only way to get audio and video together in firewire is through a rendered .avi and printing to tape. Video and audio MUST be interleaved to work with firewire. If you're trying to capture your preview with the audio coming out of your soundcard, you'll have issues. Your video framerate may change and your audio will be out of sync.

how is it not letting you pring to tape?

can you play back a DV clip in Video Capture and record that without problems?

I had similar problems, even went so far as to reformat my HD and reinstall everything from scratch to no avail.

Then one day I decided to uninistall the video and FireWire drivers. I re-installed the latest video drivers, but when I re-installed the FireWire drivers I chose the "IEEE 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller" version rather than the Texas Instrument version.

Suddenly I was able to print to tape and preview my timeline on an external monitor. Not sure if this is exactly what you need but it worked great for me. Good luck!
