Firewire or USB output? Or DVD Cam? Or simply analog outputs?

If you are going from analog tapes to digital, you can't go wrong with the ADVC-300.

The basic DV capture come from your firewire card.
Most of the conversion boxes such as the ADVC 300 go from that to/from analogue. Not a card BTW, it's a box.

i'd recomend that. it's able to be put away, NOT behind the machine, relatively cheap &looks good.
