Video Capture error

Greetings,

New user to Vegas+DVD. I have 4.0b installed under WinXP Home SP1. I get the following error message when I open the Video Capture application:

File WGKVLW could not be opened.
File 38G07Q could not be opened.
File 1XE4KG could not be opened.

I seem to be able to capture video ok in spite of the above error, but "preview" during capture is disabled. This makes it darn near impossible to capture anything, as I can't tell when the clips start or end.

Any help is appreciated.

Take a look and see if the 6-character file names relate to your registration codes. I had the exact same kind of error pattern when I upgraded to V4. SF Support suggested that my problem was related to XP and the fact that I still had V3 installed, and VF files and folders still intact (although the program had been "uninstalled."

Their suggestion was
to uninstall all SF programs
open Explore and deleted all SF directories, folders and files
re-install and re-register V4b

It worked perfectly. I'm not clear on what was fixed, or if my conditions match your own. But I've seen that error message set before and thought I might put this out to you. Good luck (Have you tried accessing SF Support, you know you have 60 days free access following registration of your product?)
