video capture error (w/ DSR-25)

So I connected my brand new Sony DSR-25 VTR to my XP system tonight, and everything is wonderful. In Vegas, I select the Microsoft DV Camera and VCR menu option (is that correct?), and I can then view the contents of my miniDV via the DSR-25. HOWEVER, the moment I actually attempt to CAPTURE the video I get a very long error:

mtIn==mtOut||(mtIn.majortype==mtOut.majortype&&(mtIn.subtype==GUID_NULL&&mtIn.formattype==GUID_NULL||mtOut.subtype==GUID_NULL&&mtOut.formattype==GUID_NULL))
At line 424 of d:\builds\nt32_chk\multimedia\dshow\filters\core\filgraph\filgraph\filgraph.cpp Continue? (Cancel to debug)

I think I recall someone mentioning some problems with having an ATI 9700Pro video card (which I have) and running Vegas and capturing, etc. Please, if anyone has any idea what might be going on - I'd love to hear from you. Any of you Sony VTR owners, what are your settings and how did you make YOURS work? FOR THE LOVE OF DOG!!?!?!? :-) Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I know it won't be any consolation, but ...
I have a DSR-25 and have not had one jot of problem from day 1 with this unit, Win2K and Vegas.

Though I am using Win2KSP4, I'd check/get the following:

1. Latest version of Vegas - 4.0e
2. Latest version of DirectX - I am using 9.0b

Also, give another capture program a shot. Try ScenalyzerLive from here:

Bon chance,
Tom

I'm going to guess my problem lies within my video capture card:
ATI Radeon 9700pro

I remember reading somewhere within this forum about somebody commenting that some of ATI's proprietary software needs to be disabled before Vegas can work. I just can't find it now. Isn't that always the way?!

I am running Vegas 4.0e with XP(sp5). My dv connection is working because I can control the deck via the software, but once it tries to actually start capturing the video, it crashes. I've filed a technical support report with Sonic Foundry, but would STILL love any feedback from those with ATI 9700pro cards and a history of problems solved. Thanks!!!
